FAQ
Questions,
answered plainly.
If something here is not covered, the privacy page goes into more detail about what is stored and what is public.
The basics
Is it free?
Yes, and there is no paid tier waiting behind it. It runs on the free tiers of three platforms and costs almost nothing to keep up, so there is nothing to recover.
There is no advertising and no analytics either. Nobody is being sold anything here, including you.
Do I need to be fast?
No. The product is a record of races you finished, not a leaderboard. There is no ranking of runners anywhere in it, and there is not going to be one.
Do I need photographs?
No. A race with no photograph gets a generated pattern derived from its name, so the same race always looks the same and a grid never looks patchy.
Most people's first logged race has no photograph, so that state was designed rather than tolerated.
What counts as a race?
Whatever had a start line and mattered to you. Road, trail, track, a 5K, a fifty. There are preset distances for the common ones and a free entry for everything else.
Your profile
Who can see my profile?
Anyone with the address, and search engines. That is the product — the point is a link you can give to someone, so it has to work without an account at the other end.
Your email address and your date of birth are the exceptions. Neither is ever shown, and the date of birth is not in the database view public visitors read at all.
Can I change my username later?
Yes, from your profile settings. Any link you already shared with the old username will stop working, which the form warns you about before you save.
Are my photographs private?
No, and it is worth being precise about this. They are stored in a public bucket, so an individual image URL will open for anyone who has it, whether or not they came through the site.
They are not listed anywhere except on your own profile — but do not upload a photograph you would mind a stranger seeing.
Strava
Do I have to connect Strava?
No. Everything works without it; connecting just saves you typing.
What does it read?
Your activity list — each activity's name, date, distance and time — so you can pick which ones were races. Nothing else, and it never writes anything back to Strava.
The access tokens are stored in a table that the browser-facing database keys cannot reach at all. Not even you can read your own token through the browser.
What if I import the same run twice?
You will not get a second race. An imported activity is remembered against the race it created, and already-imported activities are marked and cannot be selected again.
Leaving
How do I delete everything?
Settings, then delete account, behind a confirmation you have to type. It removes the account, the profile, every race, every photograph and any Strava tokens.
It cannot be undone and there is no backup to restore you from.
Can I get my photographs back out?
Individually, yes — every photograph is a normal image at a normal URL, so saving them works the way saving any image works.
There is no one-click export archive yet. Until there is, keep your own copies of anything that matters to you, which is the right advice for any free service.
